Laser and Optic Physics - Books and Journals As a branch of physics, optics concentrates on the formation and propagation of light. Our optics books provide an understanding of the basic mechanisms and principles of the origin and properties of light and explore the innovations in modern laser physics in theory and experiment. One focus of laser physics and quantum optics is therefore the theoretical investigation of the nonlinear properties of the quantum vacuum in ultra-intensive laser light. The theoretical foundations include relativistic quantum many-particle systems and relativistic quantum transport. The Laser Physics and Nonlinear Optics group (LPNO) explores the physics and technology of lasers, nonlinear optical processes and processing of optical information. Emphasis is put on nanophotonic approaches, to control the generation of light to its extremes and to explore novel ways for linear and nonlinear optical processing.

Optics & Laser Technology aims to provide a vehicle for the publication of a broad range of high quality research and review papers in those fields of scientific and engineering research appertaining to the development and application of the technology of optics and lasers. Atomic and Laser Physics We research the interaction of light and matter over an enormous range of conditions, from high-energy plasmas created by the most powerful lasers in the world, to the coherent manipulation of single quantum particles for implementing quantum information processing, to the creation of quantum matter such as Bose-Einstein condensation condensates at temperatures of tens of nanokelvin.
